This year ethnic churches in Sydney will join hands with Aussie churches as the Reclaiming Easter March builds to its climax in 2001 when the traditional and orthodox calendars converge to both celebrate Easter Sunday on April 15th, 2001.

This year's Easter march will launch two years of intensive activity that will bring to a climax the Awakening in Australia. The next two years will see:

• Awakening Easter and Christmas Festivals continue to flourish;
• the launch of Advent Parades that will engage school children in the celebration of the turning of the millennium, and put Christ clearly into the celebrations;
• the expansion of Easter Prayer Vigils to include New Years Eve Prayer Gatherings;
• the final Global March for Jesus, Celebrate 2000, that will take place in the Sydney Olympic Stadium just three months before the Games, and that will include a 5000 voice youth choir;
• the launch of Awakening More than Gold Family Festivals at the invitation of the Sydney Organising Committee of the Olympic Games, for both the Torch Run and Opening Ceremony;
• the instigation of the Re-discovery of Australia Project, that will see school children nationally exploring our early history and linking with local Aboriginal people as a way of discovering their own history and preparing them for the new millennium.

All of this will climax locally with the Easter March and nationally at Pentecost with a pilgrimage to Uluru.

As the momentum builds there is a growing sense of excitement and a belief that it may in fact be possible for every Aussie to hear the Good News of Jesus in their own heart language during the next two years.
