This Easter sees not only the celebration of the last Easter of this millennium but also the tenth Anniversary of the Reclaim Easter movement. Over that time this unique Aussie celebration has happened in 400 cities and towns and had over a million and a half people participate in it's various events. It has also inspired other nations around the world to discover fresh and culturally relevant ways of bringing the community together to celebrate the spirit of Easter in a non-commercial way.

This Sunday afternoon will once again see tens of thousands take to the streets with the sea of green and gold balloons, sunflowers and colourful banners singing to music broadcast by a satellite link-up to every capital city. Senior church leaders will be at the head of every march and engage with the multi-cultural and multi-generational crowd as it participates in it's city centre program.

This year sees the launch of The Australian Christian Channel for the east coast of Australia, a Christian multi-cultural FM station for Sydney and a two year millennium and Centennial Federation program for the youth of Australia.

Young Australians will be helped to prepare for the new millennium by rediscovering their history and finding an active role in their future. Research, reflection and reconciliation at a local level will be encouraged.

They will be invited to become active participants in significant millennium events like

• Large local Advent parades in the last weekend of November 1999 and 2000.
• Have active roles when the Olympic torch comes to their region and the Opening Night of the Olympics in Sydney.
• To join with young Australians from all over Australia to pack Stadium Australia on the day of the Global March - June 2000 (when tens of millions around the world will celebrate the reason for the season in the climactic March for Jesus).
• Then complete the whole process with pilgrimages to Uluru over a three month period to celebrate the special history and geography that shaped what we are and what we might become.
