The Journey to Uluruwith school children
coming from all across Australia to Uluru our geographic and symbolic heart,
during a period of 6 weeks after Easter.
In the style of a pilgrimage, where the journey is part of
the experience, boundaries of indigenous tribes are recognised along the way
with opportunity for dialogue with the those representing the original
inhabitants. Representatives of Schools in Harmony have been in dialogue
with indigenous leaders in central Australia who have extended a welcome.
Your school can arrange their own coach, work together with
other schools nearby, or book your schools group through Schools in Harmony for
tours.
Advent
pageants,beginning on the last Friday in November, involved tens of
thousands of school children across the nation last year in Advent Pageants
linked by satellite
broadcast.

| The Advent Pageants usher in
the Christmas season with a celebration marking the birth that divides
history into BC and AD, and are remarkable for the enthusiasm they have
brought and the positive response from every part of the community and
media.
The National radio broadcast
provides the music for the pageant as it moves along, and with
"live" updates links yours and other pageants across the
nation.
The costumes are
simple to make and could be part of class activities.
The songs have been
selected from popular Christmas Carols, including both well known
traditional and newer Australian carols, to reflect the celebration of the
day. Suitable standard for general
class participation.
The CD has both the
vocal tracks and backing tracks for rehearsal. On the day, the
national radio broadcast is recommended, or if unavailable, the CD or
school band can play the music.
A
Schools Advent Kit is available with the CD, song book
and a practical manual showing how to make the costumes and put on the
event, as well as the CD of last year's radio
broadcast.

Schools in
Harmonyis a nationwide movement which spans primary,
secondary, state, private and Christian education systems, It was
established as a sub-committee of educators to organise a number of connected
school projects around performance arts, community development and cultural awareness.
It's most recent projects include the Pilgrimage to Uluru and Advent Pageants.
